Ballylickey, built some 300 years ago as a shooting lodge by Lord Kenmare and extended by the
Franco-Irish Graves family around 1940, has recently been totally restored and splendidly
refurbished to its period. The house, visited on many occasions by the poet, Robert Graves, an uncle of the present owner, offers a number of elegant suites with fine views over the
grounds.
These were laid out many years ago by George Graves' mother, Kitty.
A short walk from the main house lie our charming and colourful swimming pool, bar and
lucheon restaurant together with a cluster of garden
cottages, that offer an alternative to staying in the
main house, where guests may choose between
double bedded rooms and suites.
Ballylickey over-looks beautiful Bantry Bay, in
the midst of magnificent scenery and within easy
reach of Killarney, Glengarriff and the majestic coastline of South West County Cork, offers a
wide variety of sport and leisure activities on the
property and nearby, Outdoor Swimming Pool -
Game & Sea Fishing - 2 Golf Courses - (2 and 5 miles) - Croquet - Riding - Mountain Walks and
two of the finest Botanical Gardens to visit.
